Radio Muzak – Remixed

My friend Varun, who has admittedly questionable sexuality, told me that he’d like to see some more Britney Spears and Lady Gaga on this blog. Although I can’t allow myself to post an original Britney song, I wouldn’t object to some remixes that up the ante for a house party.

Benassi Remixes

Over the last year, Benny Benassi has shown himself to be incredibly multitalented, going beyond his usual hardcore electro style and branching out to remixes of hip-hop, pop, and even recently did a dubstep remix of a James Blake song that has yet to be released.

These first two songs are cheerful, uplifting, with the perfect vocal accompaniments. Perfect for a summer barbeque or an afternoon out on a boat.

These three songs are remixes of popular hip-hop/pop songs; the Benassi remixes add his trademark high-pitched flanger effects and body-poppin beats. In the case of Last Ones Standing, his remix is more subdued and when combined with the Example lyrics infuse it with positivity and hope.

Vocal Dubstep

‘ello everybody. This is the vocal dubstep post, because the grittiness and glitched-out electronic feel of dubstep always sounds so smooth with some heart-lifting vocals attached.
The ‘Teenage Crime’ remix chops up the vocals and beat a little bit and extends the song, making it at once faster and also more progressive. The Messed remix of Adele’s Someone Like You gives the piano melody and her soaring voice a complementing base of drums and bassline. And for you Dragon Ball Z fans, Super Sub Kamehameha is a welcome blast from the past.

As a welcome present, here are two eccentric, tribal, electronic tracks. You won’t find anything like it in the world, literally, because they come from the Xavante tribe in the Amazon jungle. Download them, they’re mind-blowing

The Xavante tribe is an indigenous tribe in the Amazon jungle, whose land and language are quickly disappearing. As part of the Critical Beats mission, Govinda has produced these songs that represent their language, their music, and their environment.

In “Teacher Calling”, there is the voice of a Shipibo Elder wishing that her language will not die out; her voice is backed up by a flutist and a percussionist also from the same family of tribes.
“The Xavante” is backed by the sounds of the Sacred Valley, and a tribal chant that gives the song energy and power.
